Coming in Like a Lion!

As the old saying goes: “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb.” No truer words were ever spoken for the beginning of this March in the Northeast. We got slammed with a doozy of a storm as the month began, and as I key we are awaiting a snowstorm! Mother Nature doing her thing just when we began to hope for signs of Spring.

I’ve learned long ago, don’t get your hopes up looking for that green to emerge. Right now, in upstate New York, there is still lots of snow on the ground.

Do I dare say that the Spring Equinox is March 20th, just a couple of weeks away? There are two equinoxes each year, one in March and the other in September. It’s when the sun shines on the equator and there are equal periods of day and night.

There are many ancient sites that mark the Equinoxes. At Chichen Itza in Mexico, Mayans built a huge pyramid around the year A.D. 1000. The play of the Sun’s light on the pyramid signals the beginning of the seasons. On the Spring Equinox, the light pattern looks like a snake. Mayans called this day, “The Return of the Sun Serpent.”

I remember in 2012 when I visited the pyramids in Mexico. There were so many sites reflecting the Mayan history and calendar. I remember leaving the hotel at two in the morning to be at the pyramids at sunrise. So many spiritually-minded folks from various countries were welcoming that important calendar year.

I remember also that that was two years before Masaru Emoto, whom I met there at the Mexican pyramids, passed away. (As per Wikipedia, Masaru Emoto was a Japanese author, researcher, photographer and entrepreneur, who claimed that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. “Emoto’s conjecture evolved over the years, and his early work explored his belief that water could react to positive thoughts and words, and that polluted water could be cleaned through prayer and positive visualization.” (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaru_Emoto) He was an amazing and dedicated man, to be sure. It was wonderful to meet him and his son. He was ailing at the time of the 2012 event but managed to donate his book, The Hidden Messages in Water, to all of Mexico – honoring the 2012 Mayan calendar event.

I am not surprised about all the attention that the Spring Equinox is given because, after all, who does not love Spring (aside from some of those with Spring allergies)? Personally, I think that it is actually Spring rather than the “New Year” that is the time for putting into action, things you want to change in your life. One goal for sure is getting into shape and shedding a few pounds. With the warmer weather, it is easier to go outside and enjoy yourself. Also, we don’t feel that we need to eat as much when the weather gets warmer.

With the coming of Spring, it’s also a pleasure to experience the awe-inspiring changes that surround you. The Winter is much more of a solitude state, unless you live in a warm climate of course – but then the other side of that coin is that you have to get inspired in another way when Springtime rolls around.

Part of the oncoming of Spring is the fun we allow ourselves to have on St. Paddy’s Day, on March 17th. The tradition of food, dancing, and singing, along with the bagpipes (and of course drinking – don’t overdo it!), helps make St. Paddy’s Day one remarkable event. Indeed, March 17th is the time for one of the largest parades in NYC and Boston. Like we should do on all holidays, take what makes you laugh and enjoy, and leave the rest behind.

And let us not forget that later, at the end of March, begins Passover.

Ah yes, March! I’m truly looking forward this month to returning to Lafayette, Louisiana and Toronto! Gotta love that Cajun and Creole food and culture!

Happy Spring Equinox to all! And let us not forget:

One swallow does not make a Spring.
Bluebirds are a sign of Spring; warm weather and gentle south breezes they bring.
In Spring, no one thinks of the snow that fell last year.
Don’t say that Spring has come until you can put your foot on nine daisies.
Spring-time sweet!
The whole Earth smiles, thy coming to greet.

Happy 2013!

Happy 2013 to all! We obviously we got through 12/21/12, despite some Mayan calendar interpretations predicting the end of the world. Obviously those predictions were wrong. It’s time to move forward. We now begin “a new cycle,” as astrologers, numerologists, and my fans well know.

Given that 2+0+1+3 = 6, 2013 is a 6 year-the number generally associated with family, service, responsibility, and work. To know how you may fit into this paradigm, consider meditating on this perspective, and/or doing some research, and/or checking with your guides and teachers who should be able to assist you on your journey into the new year. Also listen to the archives from my Blog Talk Radio show on January 7th. My guest was Bill Attride, a superb and very astute astrologer!

As most of you know, I was asked to be an honorary master of the winter solstice celebration at the Mayan Pyramid in Uxmal, Mexico. There were only a select few permitted to perform ceremony at the sacred pyramids. However, over 400 people attended, from all over the world. The very distinguished Masaru Emoto from Japan was there, and what a special honor it was for me to be at the ceremony with him. As the ceremony was in Spanish, translators came to relay the spoken words into Japanese, French, and English.

We arrived at the temple at 3am. The ceremony lasted four hours. What a beautiful experience! The focus of the ceremony was on Humanity, the union with Mother Earth, and how “All is One.”

During Mr. Emoto’s talk (interpreted into English by his son), he shared that when his grandson was born, he knew he had to do all he could to make the earth a better place. He noted how the power of water in all it’s forms is crucial to this change. With that in mind, he announced that he was donating 65,000 copies of his books to the people of Mexico, to share his message that he feels everyone needs to know. During Mr. Emoto’s speech, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

At the Mayan event, the idea of separateness was absent, and instead the emphasis was based on the oneness of Love. Of course, as I have been saying for some time at my seminars, galleries, and private sessions, no matter what the language, the message is Love.

Love is the key for connecting, even when the loss of a loved one is involved. For Love never dies.

Of course, there is no replacement for losing a loved one-ask any parent who has lost a child. From that moment on, our lives are never the same. However, we must learn to live with the loss, and the resulting new reality, until it is time for us to make our own transition, and we get to meet our loved ones again. That, my friends, I promise, is what will be.

As I’ve noted many times before, my mediumship work is about the living, those left here in the physical who need to go on and do what is necessary to continue, and honor our loved ones who are now in Spirit. They are fine, so don’t worry. And we will all experience that fineness once again, first-hand, once our journey here is ended.

Soon I’ll be going to California, Tucson, and Montreal-a first for me. Then to Florida, Denver, the Northwest, and of course my beloved Northeast. Check out my events page for details.

As always it’s my honor to connect or reconnect with each of you, this time in the New Year of 2013.

My thoughts of Love go out to all you. If I may suggest, embrace whatever you feel this coming year of 2013 is meant to be, for you.

The Voice of Spring

I spoke too fast in my last blog when I expressed hopes of Spring arriving here in March.  I guess instead of going out like a lamb, March has invited Winter to hang around a little longer.  Consider it a reminder that in life, things will happen in their own way and time, regardless of how we try to rush the process.  Even the crocuses who are trying to show their little heads will, like the rest of us, have to go with the rhythm of when Spring 2011 actually does intend to get here.

I like many of you have been sending out positive thoughts and prayers to Japan for that country’s very painful process of rebuilding.  In a way, the tragedy there reminds me of living in NYC in September 2001 and going through 9/11-seeing my beautiful city attacked, resulting in all that loss of life, pain, and suffering.  Totally surreal. Like so many New Yorkers, I know first hand the kind of impact a shocking event like that can create, and that prayers are so important-for those giving and receiving.

Masaru Emoto’s messages of prayer could be just what is needed in his country now.  As many of you know, and as Wikipedia explains, Masaru Emoto is a Japanese author known for his view that if human speech or thoughts are directed at water droplets before they are frozen, images of the resulting water crystals will be “beautiful” or “ugly” depending upon whether the words or thoughts were positive or negative. Emoto says that this effect can be achieved through prayer, music, or by attaching written words to a container of water.  A wonderful metaphor and evidence on the value of staying positive.  And of course, the Japanese will find comfort in their Buddhist traditions during this great time of spiritual as well as physical need.  Please keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers in the weeks and months ahead.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, I had the privilege and honor of speaking in Mexico at the pyramids at Teotihuacan on the March 20 Vernal Equinox.  I had heard that this event was of importance in Mexico, but did not realize that it was such an intensely celebrated holiday.  I was honored and humbled by how the people there embraced me during my stay, and constantly reminded that “El amor nunca muere,” or “Love never dies.”

So as we wait for that voice of Spring to be heard, remember that no matter what is going on in the world, we can always send out our thoughts of Love.  Never doubt that those precious thoughts can and will-like air-travel around the world.
